| On September 6, the Walk Of America came to a spectacular end. Accompanied by their US Expedition Patron, Dr. Jill Biden, and her husband, Vice President Joe Biden, the team walked their 1000th mile through Manhattan. Their final mile took them via the iconic 9/11 Memorial Museum to the Queen Elizabeth II Garden in Hanover Square, where they stood before the magnolia tree that our UK Expedition Patron, Prince Harry, planted in 2009.
The team were cheered into the garden by crowds of supporters, many of whom had made special trips to New York to watch them cross the finish line. With the stirring music of the Port Authority Police Department Pipes & Drums in the background, it was a very fitting way to mark the end of such a remarkable journey. |
