Have your say on new Magna tram-train and Park & Ride

South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive and Network Rail are asking for your views on exciting plans to create a new tram-train stop and Park & Ride site near to the Magna Science Adventure Park in Templeborough.

The proposed scheme aims to improve Tram Train and tram connectivity across the region as well as provide better access to employment, walking and cycling opportunities, whilst improving air quality and reducing congestion.

Tram Trains provide a direct service from Sheffield city centre to Rotherham Central and Parkgate, travelling on both street tramlines and the national rail network. The proposed new stop would be the first addition to the network since it opened in 2018.

Further details about the plans and how you can register your views are available now on Rotherham Council’s website.

Outdoor family events throughout the borough this summer

Rotherham Council’s events team has lined-up a wide range of outdoor events right across the borough.

The Summer Programme has been made possible through funding from the ‘Welcome Back Fund’. The Welcome Back Fund provides councils across England a share of £56 million from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to support the safe return to high streets and help build back better from the pandemic.

To ensure Covid safety, all events are ticketed to limit attendance and ensure Covid safety. You can book using the Rotherham Theatre website or find out more on the RMBC Events Team Facebook page

Are you register-ready to vote? Look out for your letter

Annual CanvassOur annual canvass is underway!

The annual canvass takes place so we can make sure the electoral register is up to date.

It helps us to identify any residents who are not currently registered to vote but are entitled to and so that we can remove the names of electors if they are no longer at an address.

Letters, addressed to ‘The Occupier’, are being sent to every household in the borough:

  • If your letter has a yellow background you need to respond if there are changes to the information.
  • If it doesn’t have a yellow background you must respond even if the information is correct.

You can reply in a number of ways but the quickest and easiest way to respond is online. Full details about the canvass are available on our website.

Your opinion matters

Did you know the Council is regularly asking local residents and businesses for their views on a huge variety of topics?

From taxi licensing to cycling strategies and our annual budget to local plans, we would really like to hear your views on what’s happening locally, what you support, what you’re against – and why. Public opinion matters.

All our live consultations are available to view on our website, which is regularly updated.
