THANK YOU FOR THE AMAZING TURNOUT OUT FOR WILLIAM PARKIN’S FUNERAL

On behalf of William Parkin’s Niece (Lynne), his next door neighbour (John) and the MCVC (Military Community Veterans Centre) I would like to offer our sincere thanks and gratitude to everyone that turned out today (Wednesday 21st December 2016) to say farewell to William, an 86 year old Royal Navy Veteran from Tinsley, Sheffield who passed away at the end of November.  Without the power of social media, emails and the internet William’s Funeral would have been very quiet and low key, but thankfully the word was spread far and wide and his funeral today was befitting of someone that had served his country with pride.

I’m sure if William was looking down on today’s service he would have been taken aback at the number of people and organisations that had turned out to say farewell and thank him for his service.  Cadets, Members of the Regular and Reserve Forces, Veterans from far and wide, Standard Bearers, Military Charities and Associations, Buglers, Government Agencies, friends of the family, members of the public and others that I cannot recall, for which I can only apologise, all of whom came together to say thank you and farewell to a true gent and veteran and you did him proud.

Thank You.
