Summer Activities with the MCVC

The executive committee have been working hard to develop a program of activity for the summer for our veterans to get involved with. Courses, training, visits and social events are all included.

On the 7th Jun we will be introducing our Mental Health and awareness program which we have titled ‘It’s OK not to be OK’! A series of events and activities which have been funded by a very generous grant fro Rotherham NHS trust, Clinical Commissioning Group.  We will improve our mental health, raise awareness of issues around mental wellbeing by following the 5 pathways; Connecting, Getting active, taking notice, improving learning and giving.

This will be delivered by some short interactive workshops at the Friday drop in, supplemented by some extrordinary guest speakers.  A continuation of our popular walking club on Mondays and by linking to our computer training to support those who are less confident using computers.  That training has been funded by a National Lottery Community Fund grant, which has purchased our own palm tops!  That course will be run at the Library in Riverside house by kind permission of the council.

We have booked a visit the National Memorial Arboretum on 30 Jun.  The places are limited and if you have not yet booked a seat you need to get a wiggle on!  We are planning another day trip at the end on July, and several people have given the committee advice on what they would like to do and where to go (it’s not the first time the committee have been told where to go!) If you have any ideas and suggestions please tell the committee.

Armed Forces Day is fast approaching and a separate note is provided on this site about that.

Finally – if you have not got your tickets for the summer party please hurry; we have a limited number which we cannot go over.  Raffle tickets will be available from the drop in on Friday 7th Jun.

In summary, we have a busy, varied and interesting summer program of activity.  Remember that we also welcome family involvement, so please join in.  More news available at the drop in or breakfast club. Most important point – get you name on the nominal roll before you miss out!

Have a great summer!
