MCVC Saves a Life

MCVC Saves a Life!!

On Saturday 11thAugust 2018, the MCVC’s Welfare Officer Sharon Lee, jumped into action after a request for medical assistance from Michael Thompson, Assistant Manager of the Toby Carvery in Rotherham.

While Sharon was enjoying her breakfast and banter at the MCVC Breakfast Club, Michael called for medical assistance as a member of the Public had been taken ill. By using her 32 years of nursing experience, she administered First Aid to the young man, while waiting for an ambulance to arrive.

Sharon was ably assisted by EX RAMC Brian Hair (MCVC) and Michelle, a member of the Toby Carvery staff.

Sharon, being always on hand to assist in an emergency used her medical equipment from her car to monitor vital signs and continued to assess and reassure the young man, until the Paramedics arrived.

Once the Paramedics arrived Sharon provided them with the information in a professional manner, enabling them to save time with their own assessment. The young man was later given the all clear by the Paramedics and was advised to rest and drink plenty of fluids.
