I am emailing due to the recent events in Afghanistan and wanted to get in touch to find out if you’re hearing from any local veterans/members who have previously served in Afghanistan. The current scenes we are seeing on the news and the retaking of power in Afghanistan by the Taliban may well be very difficult for veterans who served there to comprehend and deal with. No doubt this will potentially be having a negative impact upon their mental health.Please share this with your members and the wider Rotherham veterans community, encouraging them to get in touch with me. I would welcome meeting with and talking to them, to find out exactly how they are feeling during this very difficult period. It is very important to know how veterans are feeling about this situation so that the relevant support is in place and maintained.
