Victoria Cross Commemoration Ceremony, Barkers Pool Sheffield 12.10.15

A Commemoration Ceremony will be taking place at 11am on Monday 12th October 2015 at Barkers Pool, Sheffield to commemorate 100 years since Sergeant Major John Crawshaw Raynes received his Victoria Cross for bravery and devotion to duty during World War 1.  The occasion will see Sheffield receive a plaque to mark this historic event and the story behind the award can be viewed in the window display on Pinestone Street.  Members of the public are urged to attend this event which will pay tribute to a very brave soldier from World War 1.
