VC COMMEMORATION

Dear MCVC Representative

 

A commemoration parade and service is to be held in Swinton, South Yorkshire on Thursday 27thSeptember 2018 to mark the 100thanniversary of the posthumous award of the VC to L/Cpl Thomas Norman Jackson, Coldstream Guards.

 

It is with great pleasure that I, on behalf of the Swinton Community, cordially invite you and other members of the Rotherham MCVC to attend the ceremony.

 

A draft timetable of the proceedings is as follows: –

 

10.00 parade to assemble Queen St Car Park.

10.15 parade moves off.

10.35 approx. parade arrives St Margaret’s Church.

10.45 approx. service starts.

11.45 approx. service ends – parade forms up outside church to move off to war memorial for wreath laying, act of remembrance, silence, last post & reveille.

12.15 approx. dispersal.

 

Guests, Coldstream Guards contingent, VIPs and Visitors, proceed to Swinton House Club for buffet lunch, tea/coffee & pay bar.

 

 

A charity concert is to be staged the night before, on the 26thSeptember 2018, in St Margaret’s Church, Swinton; which will include the Thurnscoe Heritage Male Voice Choir. Details, including ticket price, will be published when finalised.
