During his lifetime Jeremy Beadle was known as the “King of Quizzes” due to his introduction of Quiz Parties for raising charity funds. He always insisted on a fun night out rather than a serious evening of boring questions.

He did his first Quiz Party in Rotherham in October 1988 at the request of his friends Ann and Norman Lawrence. They travelled the country with him after that, developing the format which is still in place today.

Jeremy was awarded the MBE for his services to charity much of which involved Quiz Parties. His Quiz Parties in Rotherham raised over £80,000 for numerous charities and nationally he raised around £80 million.

Following his sudden death on 30 January 2008 it was assumed initially, that the Quiz Party days were over, but after an approach later that year from a great supporter of the previous Quiz Parties Ann and Norman were asked to do one to launch a charity in Jeremy’s name.

Following discussion with his widow Sue the Quiz Party continues and keeps his memory alive whilst raising vital funds for Rotherham charities.
