The South Yorkshire Transport Museum have kindly offered to host veterans of the MCVC to a guided tour of the museum on Friday 27th September.
They have an impressive display of vehicles and artefacts, including some military vehicles, which I am sure that many of our members would find it interesting. In addition, their curatorial staff have been preparing a special WW2 display which has its official launch on 10th November;- Remembrance Sunday, and which many of our members would surely appreciate. They also have a display of items, not all transport-related, which have been selected to stimulate the memories of our more senior members.
The museum have also agreed to collect us for Silverwood Miners & Welfare Club at 11;00 and return us on completion of the visit in their double decker bus – a trip sure to stir the memories of those that remember the old Routemaster and Dennis days of Rotherham in their haydays.
This is a FREE visit, all veterans, members and carers are welcome to attend – further details to follow.
